Hungry surfers eating mondo burritos were the inspiration for Taco Del Mar. Healthy portions of great food made your way to fuel the balanced lifestyle. Our core consumers are the weekend warriors and daily athletes that are finding their baja through regular individual fitness programs. These cyclists, joggers, canoeists and trekkers understand and relate to the brand, the nutritional aspects of the food and most importantly, the baja.
Carbohydrate is the fuel of choice for athletes—it's the immediate energy source used by active muscles. Extra carbohydrate is also stored in the muscles as glycogen, to be used during prolonged exercise. A high-carb diet can help to keep your glycogen stores stocked.
How much do you need? At least 55% of an athlete's calories should come from carbohydrate; or about 3.0 - 4.5 grams (g) of carbohydrate per pound of body weight per day. The more intensive the training, the higher the amount of carbohydrate needed. A 150 pound athlete training for an hour 4 days a week would need about 450 g of carbohydrate (150 pounds x 3.0 g) per day; compared to about 675 g carbohydrate per day for the same size super-endurance athlete training several hours each day (150 pounds x 4.5 g).
Taco Del Mar offers great-tasting high-carb options for fueling your muscles. Rice, beans, and tortillas form the foundation of our menu. Combined with lean protein choices like chicken pork and fish - it's the ideal meal for high-energy people on the go!
