Taco del Mar reaches Hawaii Kai; Windward Mall, Big Island next

Taco Del Mar will open its sixth Hawaii location next week at Hawaii Kai Towne Center. The new restaurant, which will be between Costco Tires and Verizon Wireless, will open midweek, said Ken Nascimento, master franchise developer for Hawaii, Guam and Saipan. Nascimento said he recently signed a lease for a Taco del Mar at Windward Mall, on the upper level near Sears, and plans to open his first Big Island location in Kailua-Kona, on Queen Kaahumanu Highway about a mile south of the airport. He's also looking at a location in downtown Honolulu. The Seattle-based chain, known for its made-to-order fresh "mondo burritos and rippin' tacos," opened its first store in Kunia a year ago, followed by Kapolei, Moanalua, Waipio and Windward City Shopping Center in Kaneohe.
