Mondo Burrito contest held over the weekend

A big appetite helped one Roseburg local get gift certificates and free food for a year.

Taco Del Mar hosted their first Mondo Burrito Eating Contest, with several hopeful contestants wanting their ultimate prize, one free burrito a week for a year. All contestants had to do was scarf down three Mondo Burritos in the fastest time to win.

A crowd cheered throughout the contest, and the winner, Darryl Schied, was finally announced 7 minutes and 15 seconds later.

Scheid says he ate lunch before the contest, but usually can eat two huge burritos. Even though he over ate on Saturday, Scheid says he'll come back for more.

"To eat, probably tomorrow. To eat three, it'll probably be a year. I'll try it next year.
Scheid also received a $100 gift certificate to Wal-Mart and a free round of golf at the Roseburg Country Club.
