SEATTLEOct. 23, 2006 Last fall, Adobe Creek Center landlord RMN Properties whetted the appetites of Petaluma residents by announcing the forthcoming arrival of Bajainspired Taco Del Mar; Friday, Oct. 27, it becomes a reality. Taco Del Mar, a leading, quick casual Mexican restaurant with a beach attitude and made-fresh-to-order counter, will introduce its trademark “mondo burritos and rippin’ tacos” at Adobe Creek Center, located at Lakeville Highway and South MacDowell Blvd. Franchisee Mary Ahmadi and Northern California Master Developer Mitra Garschi were thrilled to announce the restaurant’s arrival.
“Petaluma residents love their food, and Taco Del Mar fits right into lifestyle, with a fast, fresh and fulfilling alternative to quick and casual dining,” said Garschi. “The tacos and burritos are served in a friendly, vibrant beach atmosphere and it’s something very different to Petaluma’s restaurant landscape; we think the business park lunch set is going to find a new favorite in us.”
Each Taco Del Mar features signature, 24-ounce mondo burritos with slow-cooked chicken, beef or pork; a choice of four tortillas; shrimp and fish tacos and burritos; enchiladas; kids’ meals; taco salads; vegetarian and vegan offerings. The store decor sets the “Baja” mood with beach-themed murals, thatched palapas, mounted sailfish, long board tabletops and lively background music.
Garschi has been strategically been developing restaurants within her territory which encompasses North Bay area to the California-Oregon border. A Redding location opened last year, franchised by local bagel operator Terry Bordsen. Garschi oversees franchise agreements restaurant in her region.
Taco Del Mar was co-founded in Seattle in 1992 by brothers James and John Schmidt, inspired by the taco and burrito-serving beach shacks along the Southern California and Baja coastlines. Taco Del Mar remains independent and privately held, unlike many “Mexi-fresh” restaurant concepts that are “big burger” owned.
There are more than 211 Taco Del Mar locations throughout North America, each of which is locally owned and operated.
